General Wedding Photography Questions

All our wedding photography is done by award winning Christchurch Wedding Photographer, Anthony Turnham.  So rest assured that when you book SNAP! Wedding Photography you have the peace of mind knowing that you’ve booked Anthony Turnham.
Most definitely!  There are several factors that are in your favour on your big day.  Firstly you’ll be amazed by the confidence you have when your hair and makeup are done and you’re in your wedding dress.  Also most of the time you’ll be so caught up in the magic and excitement of the day that you won’t even know you’re being photographed!  Anthony’s unobtrusive style puts people at ease and lets them relax and just enjoy the wedding day.  This ultimately results in beautifully natural photographs that you will be delighted with.

We also love to schedule an engagement session with you prior to the wedding.  This gets rid of any nerves you may have had, gets you comfortable in front of the camera, and gives us a chance to strengthen our friendship before the big day.  We’ll also get some great photos too!  Many couples utilise and incorporate their engagement photos as part of their wedding theme.  There are HEAPS of options. Here at SNAP! Wedding Photography the safety of your precious memories is paramount.  We invest heavily in state of the art storage solutions that means at any time your photos are as safe as they possibly can be.  On the night of the wedding while you’re still partying hard, we’re up late making sure your photos are secured both on and off-site.
Of course! As well as capturing the story of the day as it unfolds, the magic moments and the wow shots, we also make sure we capture those all-important group photos that document the family and friends that shared in your day.
Yes.  I’m proud to be a professionally qualified member of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP).  The NZIPP is the governing body representing professional photographers here in New Zealand.  If you’re booking a qualified member of the NZIPP you’re booking a pro.
I usually work with an assistant as this liberates me from technical and logistical constraints that solo wedding photographers face.  This means I’m free to focus on giving you the experience you deserve whilst capturing breath taking imagery.
The assistant’s role is to aid me in capturing for you the very best wedding photos.  They do this in a variety of ways throughout the day including helping with lighting, helping to arrange shots, free me up from carrying equipment etc.  Our clients are always so thrilled with the level of coverage and the diversity of what I capture on a wedding day that we really don’t feel that a 2nd wedding photographer is necessary for most weddings.  However if the event is such that a second photographer is required we can arrange that.
Indeed we do!  Many of our couples use the engagement photos in some way in the lead up to their wedding, and those that don’t still benefit hugely from the experience of getting in front of the camera before the wedding day.  It’s a great chance for us to build our relationship on the run up to the day and also an opportunity to help you with advice on how to look even more fab in your wedding photos.

On the Wedding Day

On the whole we’ve been extremely blessed with great weather on the weddings we’ve photographed.  We even had a run of over 80 weddings without rain – seriously!  However last season we were forced to deal with the Christchurch showers.  Fortunately a bit of rain on your wedding day really isn’t as bad as you’d think with regards to the wedding photography.

Although we’ve got solutions if it does rain that we are happy to discuss on the run up to the wedding, here are a few ideas:

For it to rain non-stop through the time allocated for our wedding photography creative session is extremely rare.  So even if it’s raining for a while there’s usually an opportunity to get out and get some shots.  On the one occasion when the rain just didn’t let up we got out there with umbrellas and still got some fantastic images and then went back outside later during the reception whilst guests were still finishing their meals.

Rain in photos can actually make for some very beautiful and dramatic shots.  As you can see from the image below

To make life easier in the event of rain it’s worth getting hold of some umbrellas to keep you and your partner dry and give us the option to shoot outside if we wish.  Another great idea is to get some parasols that have a showerproof coating.  They act as an elegant prop whatever the weather.
