Lake Tekapo Wedding Photography
Tracey and Scott hired me as their wedding photographer for this really unique wedding at Lake Tekapo. The brief for the day was somewhat different from the norm. This lovely couple from Brisbane had got engaged here one year earlier and fell in love with the scenery. They flew a handful of guests over, had no bridal party and only wanted minimal coverage which they wanted to capture their day in a 'dark romantic style' of photography with a fashion twist.
The promise of snow on the ground and good weather did not materialise. There were gail force winds that piced up just 10 minutes before we started shooting and as soon as the bride and groom stepped out of their appartment their hair styles and clothing were obliterated! It was so windy I struggled to keep the camera steady. Lake Tekapo's Church of the Good Shephard would often have a beautiful covering of snow around it at this time of the year but unfortunately the snow had settled only further afield. Despite the conditions and lack of nearby snow I feel that we got some really striking images that fit what they were after and also have a fine art feel to them.
Getting all of the wedding photos done before we lost all daylight was a challenge. However by the end of the short 3 hour shoot we got some great results and the freezing cold, weather beaten newly weds went off to warm up and enjoy some drinks with those that made it over from Australia.
Thank you to Tracey and Scott who were fantastic to work with despite the awful conditions.
