Huntley House and Christchurch Botanical Gardens
When Japanese bride, Mariko, and her groom James decided to get married in Christchurch I was delighted that they approached me to take the photos. The wedding ceremony was to be held at Huntly house (which is a great Christchurch wedding venue) and they also wanted some wedding photos taken at the Christchurch Botanical Gardens.
Disappointingly on the day it poured with rain which meant the detailed preparation that went into the garden wedding ceremony had to be scrapped and we moved the whole ceremony inside. This presented its own challenge for the photography as the room in which the ceremony was held was not particularly big, nor was it lit very well. After the ceremony we managed to get some great shots inside this well presented old home before moving to Christchurch botanical gardens for the remainder of the wedding photos.
We were blessed with a fantastic sunset which helped to create some stunning images of this gorgeous Japanese bride. Christchurch botanical gardens are so well manicured with so many great photo opportunities that it is one of my favourite places to shoot the wedding portraits. Mariko really wanted to get some photos with some of the gardens really large trees as they just don't have that sort of thing where she comes from in Japan.
Both James and Mariko were great to photograph and more importantly they were delighted with their Christchurch wedding photos.
